August 2026 Silly People Roundup: Nude Steaks, Wing-Walking Nanas, and Inebriated Deer
August 14, 2026
Summer isn't over yet, and humanity is still out here doing the absolute most. Here's your quarterly dispatch from the front lines of glorious human stupidity and splendor.
Florida Steakhouse Goes Clothing-Optional
Every culture has its great culinary traditions. The French have their Michelin-starred tasting menus. The Japanese have their omakase. And now, Florida has nude steak.
A Hollywood, Florida restaurant called CLASS Soiree Steakhouse decided the world needed an all-nude dining experience on the first Monday of every month. That's right — you walk in, disrobe, and eat a ribeye in the buff. There was exactly one person at UPI who typed out that headline and had to sit quietly with what they'd just written.
Look, I get the appeal of feeling the air conditioning on every inch of your skin — it's Florida, you're sweating through your shirt by the time you reach the parking lot. But also: be careful with the chimichurri. Nobody wants to explain those stains to the valet.
97-Year-Old Grandma Goes Wing-Walking
Shifting gears from raw stupidity to raw guts: a 97-year-old British woman broke her own Guinness World Record for oldest female wing walker — and she did it just one year after suffering a stroke.
Let that sink in. At an age where most people are arguing about radiator temperatures and complaining about the neighbour's cat, this woman strapped herself to the top of a biplane and flew through the English countryside at however-many-hundred miles per hour.
When asked what her secret was, she probably said something like "keep moving" or "don't let age win" — but the real answer is: she never stopped being absolutely mad. We should all aspire to this level of "I'll do what I want."
Blindfolded Mr. Potato Head in Under 8 Seconds
A Kentucky man has set the world record for assembling Mr. Potato Head while blindfolded. His time: 7.92 seconds. I want you to imagine the conversation that led to this.
"So what's your talent?"
"I can put a potato's face together in the dark faster than anyone alive."
"...Do you have the paperwork to prove that?"
He did, apparently. Guinness World Records verified it. Somewhere in a Kentucky living room, a man opens a drawer full of Mr. Potato Head parts, ties a bandana around his eyes, and becomes the very best version of himself for 7.92 seconds. Absolute king behaviour.
French Police: Watch Out for Drunk Deer
Finally, a public safety announcement from the gendarmerie in Saône-et-Loire, France: please drive carefully because there are drunk deer.
Apparently the local deer have been getting into fermented fruit, stumbling around the roads, and posing a genuine traffic hazard. French police posted a warning on social media showing deer running erratically, and the internet did what the internet does — made it everyone's problem.
Only France could have a drunk wildlife problem that results in a police warning rather than a viral YouTube video called "DEER VS. GARDEN SHED (GONE WRONG)." The French approach to public safety is basically "we trust you to be sensible about this, but also, please don't hit a pissed roe deer on your way home from the boulangerie."
And that's your August 2026 silly people (and deer) roundup. We've got nudity, we've got geriatric aviation, we've got potato-based speed records, and a wine-soaked cervid crisis in rural France. See you next quarter, try not to end up in one of these columns.
